To Do List
- Items below this line were entered for the first edition; move them up if they still apply...jrf
- More and improved illustrations. Illustrations are great but take time. IMHO the book could use some more.
- A section on "How to convert a WRT-54G to a mesh infrastructure device". We have a section on how to convert a PC to an AP, but we need one on converting WRT's and similar devices.
- Slides to be used with the book. It would be great to have S5 slides http://www.meyerweb.com/eric/tools/s5/.
- I think that translating the book into as many languages as possible should take precedence to any other incremental improvements listed here.
- How about some open source packet shaping tools with GUIs so that P2P traffic can be blocked from an admin's end.
- I'd love a section on solar/wind voltage monitoring. I have some solar installations, and I have no idea how to go about monitoring battery levels remotely. This probably needs some research. -PA (A place to start is http://www.green-wifi.org)
- The various antenna construction sections are nifty for those that want to build their own antenna. However, it would be nice if there was a table of specifications for the various antenna types. If there's room, some NEC2 cards for each antenna with associated plots, patterns, and tables. For example, see:
- http://802.11junk.com/jeffl/antennas/Biquad/ http://802.11junk.com/jeffl/antennas/coffee2400/ Some mention of the FREE NEC2 program called 4NEC2 would be nice: http://home.ict.nl/~arivoors/
- A glossary would be nice - lots of acronyms are used without explaining what they are.
- Put an index in the PDF for easier on screen browsing.
Hello, My name is Ross Wilson and I have been eager to talk to you (the community) regarding some of the edits that have been suggested above. I wouldn't mind helping/contributing to the book, in the sense of adding a 'clickable' contents list/glossary. I have quite a bit of experience in making PDF documents, as well as WIFI networks and would love to provide a helping hand.
If anybody would like to contact me at: ‘ personal@rosswilson.co.uk ’ I would be pleased to help. Also, does anybody know how to create a WIKI Account on this website? I have tried but to no avail.
P.S: I have made the numbered items that I can help out on, Italic for reference.
Thanks
Ross Wilson
