Getting the book translated into major languages is a high priority for the BookSprint team. This page is here to keep track of translation efforts, and people who are interested in translating to different languages.

If you want to check on the status of a translation, or offer to help, please visit one of the pages below. If you think there should be another translation, and are willing to help, go ahead and make another page. In any case, it's probably a good idea to also join the main mailing list as we'll occasionally send out announcements.

The book is now in a format that eases comments and translation. Rob Flickenger, our editor and lead author, has converted the book into HTML format. Each chapter is on a separate wiki page, such that the text remains fixes while comments may be made at the bottom with the wiki mechanism.

The illustations and figures are available in PNG and PDF format. The PDF archive includes the original OmniGraffle documents as well.

We need:

• People to be responsible for translation to each language, and getting a budget overview from them, that can be incorporated into a grant proposal. We have that for Spanish and French, as Sylvia Cadena has been doing a great job organizing that effort. We need some people or groups to step forward for the other languages. There is probably some money available from IDRC and other funders if a reasonable project plan is put together.

Tomas Krag --> I'm happy to help in any way possible, especially in terms of getting the book into formats that are easy on translators etc. I also have some contacts with funders who might be interested, so once we have proposals, I'm happy to send those out. But I speak none of the major languages well enough to translate. --tomas krag

Translation: How to pay for it?

As IDRC is funding the Wireless training organised by APC in Africa, we are willing to help in the translation and the dissemination of this book and other materials issued from the APC workshop. Our help means fund the translation(S) project. We need an organisation make proposal and request fund and manage the tranalation and the publishing, etc. Contact me: aelzaimATidrc.org.eg, International Development Research Center, ICT4D.
